Wicked Kenya!

Hi all, well I love this place, its a more laid back madness, but rather tense especially in Nairobi where we have to lock all the doors even when driving so we don;t get car jacked or have someone sitting on our laps in the car for a ride and then run into shops and not muck around, but its quite amusing. We are way up north now in Nanyuki where its all wide horizons and plains with wildlife and cool little villages and markets etc. Very beautiful and sparse up here. . Even the local haggle is laid back and polite and enjoyable . Very cool and funny people. We are on a 4 day safari/camping/cruising animal gorking mission tomorrow with Ollie in the super old skool range rover and then fly down to the coast to Malind for sun and Arabic
exploring. So we are very well looked after by the O'maras in there fantastic house in the bush with mad monkeys and baboons. So lions, giraffes and elephants tomorrow. Its so surreal here, but so beautiful, hard to believe we are here actually. Have crossed the equator loads of times. gotta get my white ass out into the rays on the coast.
Had the best time out in Impala Ranch and the Samburu park. Saw loads of giraffe and Elephants, no lions, tigers or rhino though. Its to green and lush at the moment, so they are hiding out somewhere. Came very close to being stampeded by elephants at one point, almost had to check our undies. Great timing for the range rover to stall. Saw loads of crazy birds, impala, dick dicks, monkeys, hippos, bush bucks, hyrax, ,jackals, ostrich, zebras etc. Camped by the river, went swimming everyday but was a little freaked out that a hippo might chomp one of us in half. Got hit by an enormous storm and had to hang onto the tent, well Pia really did most of the work, cheers mate for that. Slept in our flooded tent. Swam in a magical little hot spring just like pupu springs only warm. Right in the middle of all the animals out in the Samburu park. Was heavenly since we had been covered in mud from getting out the subaru leone form the bogged out swamp.
Flew to Malindi in a tiny plane and camped out in our ponsey resort on Watamu beach, thanks to the Omara's hook ups. Biked round the villages, snorkeled (fish bit me on the lip), did crazy African dancing, more sun and swimming, biking, eating, drinking with local boys. Till we left for Nairobi staying with Hamish. Went out to the Rift Valley for amazing views. Really love this country. Will definitely be coming back for longer to get a greater feel for Africa. Flying out to Dubai for a while then the euro tour begins.
